Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Rose Silva, certified lash technician and owner of LifeStyled Lashes. My home studio is located in the Pringle Creek area of Whitby so if you’re in a hurry go ahead and click the book now button! Otherwise, let me tell you a bit about myself.
Prior to operating my own business I managed a well-known retail store; an experience to which much of my personal growth is attributed to and one that taught me a great deal about customer service. Although I loved my job in the fashion industry, my priorities changed after having children. I needed to make a career change that allowed a more flexible schedule, so I could spend more time with my kids. I became interested in eyelash extentions a few years ago after having them applied to my own eyes and trained to become an Eyelash Extension Artist in 2016. This interest quickly evolved into a real passion so I began perfecting my craft and in 2018 launched LifeStyled Lashes.
Today I work every day from my home studio and I absolutely enjoy everything my job entails. I’ve developed a strong love for the art, and get genuine satisfaction not only from enhancing my client’s look, but also from enhancing the way they feel. I meet such amazing women who inspire me in so many ways but the greatest feeling is hearing that I have inspired them to reach for new heights.
With LifeStyled Lashes my aim is to not only provide you with quality service but to immerse you in a relaxing atmosphere where we can chat about anything from work stress to your dreams for the future.
Because at the end of the day when my client’s smile… that’s real success!
What Are Eyelash Extensions?
Eyelash Extension is a technique in which individual synthetic eyelashes are applied using special glue to your natural eyelashes one by one. The finished result is an amazing appearance of longer, thicker and curler lashes that last anywhere from 3-5 weeks. You have the option to choose how thick, curly or long they are all depending on your natural lashes and lifestyle (e.g. school teacher may want natural looking, whereas a bride may want a dramatic look). The different curls and lengths will be discussed before your application and you will become more familiar with the differences in styles once we consult each other before starting.
Where and when did this trend start?
In 2004 North America was first introduced to individual eyelash extensions. Celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez, Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan were some of the first to openly divulge the use of eyelash extensions and from there on the popularity started spreading to the public. The appeal of natural looking yet glamorous lashes was something everyone wanted. Fast forward to 2019 where is has become an extremely common service being provided. People are opting out from the fake looking one time wear strip lashes to the much more natural and long lasting look of individual eyelash extensions.
A Bit of Interesting History on Eyelashes
Prior to being introduced to North America in 2004, Korea had been using individual eyelash extensions for some 30 years. Before the popularity started to grow here in 2004 many women opted for the use of false eyelash strips (the ones from the drugstore). False eyelashes we’re patented in 1911 by a Canadian woman (Yay Canada) by the name of Anna Taylor. She used a crescent of fabric and attached tiny hairs to it. However they were not a common beauty tool until 1916 when D.W. Griffith decided that Seena Owens, the actress in his film Intolerance needed to have eyelashes “twice as large” and ordered his wig maker to use sprint gum to glue a pair of eyelashes made from human hair on to her eyelids (OMG!). Within a decade false lashes became a standard tool for actresses and flappers who imitated the baby doll eyes that they saw in the major film and have only become better and better with time.
